How to Lighten Your Lips- DIY

Are you a dark lips sufferer?  Dark lips can be a result of smoking, stained lips, genetics, or anything.  I noticed while doing swatches that my top lip is a lot darker than my bottom lip; therefore, when I apply lipstick it looks weird.  This is something that probably I have only noticed.

I apply the mix after using my Brown Sugar lip scrub.  Please use the product every other day until you can use once a day for 2 weeks.  Lemon can irritate the skin; so please be careful.  Use a lip balm during the day that contains a SPF.  The sun can lead to irritation.

This solution is excellent for dark spot on the face also. Be sure to use your SPF though.

Ingredients/ Supplies

Lemon

Vitamin E Oil

Tea Tree Oil (Optional)

Container with a Lid

Knife

Spoon

Directions

Squeeze half of the lemon into the container

1.5 tablespoons of Vitamin E Oil of or 10-12 capsules (depending on size)

Add 2-3 drops of Tea Tree oil (Optional)

Mix solution

Apply

2 Weeks Nightly

Use a small foundation brush or Q-Tip to apply to lips at night.  Then apply Vaseline to your lips.  Wash off in the morning.

How to Determine Your Face Shape

Lately I have been obsessed with figuring out my face/eye/nose shapes.  Knowing your face shape can help determine the best hair cut, where to apply blush and how to contour your face just to name a few.  After watching tons of YouTube videos and reading countless articles, I found a method that made sense to me.  Again there are several different methods.   Let’s get started.

There are several different face shapes.  You can have one main face shapes with hints of another.  Also your face shape does not have anything to do with your features ex Full Lips, wide eyes,  etc.  Just because you and your favorite star have the same face shape does not mean you look alike.

Types of Face Shapes

Oval Shape (the desired face shape per people-I guess)

Longer than wide, with a jaw that is narrower the cheekbones

Eva Mendes, Kate Hudson, Mila Kuni, Tyra Banks

Round Shape

Wide hairline and fullness below the cheekbones

Selena Gomez, Salma Hayek, Drew Barrymore

Square Shape

Wide at hairline and jaw

Demi Moore, Jessica Biel, Janet Jackson, Monique, Marilyn Monroe.

Diamond Face – ME

Narrow chin and forehead with wide cheekbones

Linda Evangelista, Sophia Loren, Katherine Hepburn, Scarlett Johansson, Kate Bosworth, Rihanna, Madonna.

Heart Shape

Wider forehead and narrower chin

Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Lopez, Katie Holmes, Angela Bassett

Pear Shape

Small or narrow forehead and larger pouchy appearing jaw line

Oblong

Very long and narrow bone structure

Sarah Jessica Parker, Gisele Bundchen, Ashlee Simpson, Iman

How to Measure

Measuring Tape

Pen

Paper

*It’s hard to take pics and keep the tape straight but you get the drift

Forehead

–          Measure the widest section of your forehead.  From hair line to hair line

Jaw line

–          From widest point to widest point

Cheekbones

–           From beginning of ear, across nose, to the other ear

Length of face

–          From hair line to end of chin

My Measurements

Forehead 7.55”

Jawline  7.50”

Cheekbones 11”

Length of face 8”

Determine Face Shape

Oval

–          If length is equal to 1.5 of width

–          Example  L= 9 W=6     6*1.5=9

–          Again if you multiply your width by 1.5 and it equal your length, you have an oval face

Oblong

–          Length is larger than width

–          You do not meet the requirements  of the other face shapes

Square

–          If forehead, cheekbones, jaw line and length are all roughly the same (may be off by .25”)

Diamond

–          If you are the widest at the cheekbones

–          Example my measurements

Heart

–          Forehead and cheekbones are the same but the chin is narrow

–          Example 7.5” forehead, 7.5 cheekbones, and 5” jaw line

Round

–          If length and width are the same and forehead and jaw line are the same

–          L=9” W= 9”; JL= 7.5” FH= 7.5”

Pear

–          Forehead is smaller than jaw line and cheekbones

WHAT IS YOUR FACE SHAPE?

DIY Under Eye Treatment -Wrinkles

DIY Under Eye Cream

I went on the world’s largest hunt for the best under eye treatment.  I wanted a treatment that would alleviate dark circle, fine lines, and crow’s feet.  I didn’t feel like I was asking for too much.  After trying several high end and low end brands over the past couple of years I decided to go the natural route.  I really do love La Mer; however, with my salary it just not feasible to spend that amount on under eye cream.  Maybe at bonus time-MAYBE…

I decided to make a DIY under eye cream.  Heck I DIY everything else – Just add it to my Sunday to do list.  There are so many recipes out there.  I decided to make a simple formula for day and a strong one for night.  Please remember your under area is very delicate.  Do not pull or tug-PAT gently with your ring finger or tool.  Also don’t forget to use your sunscreen.  Again your under eye area is very delicate.

DIY Epsom Salt Body Scrub

DIY Epsom Salt Body Scrub

Epsom Salt Body Scrub

There are many ways to make a body scrub.  Some use white sugar, brown sugar, sugar cane pieces, or sea salts.  I prefer Epsom salts.  At first it may seem a little rough on the skin but a lot of rubbing is not required.

I am a psoriasis suffering; therefore, I always must be careful about what’s in a scrub and the roughness.  For me white sugar was not rough enough and brown sugar left a film behind.  The film made me feel like I needed to shower again.

When applying my scrub I rub my skin gently in the shower.  I do not ever-under any circumstance-rub my skin like it’s a sander.  That is the #1 to incite a flare up. I use the scrub daily in the shower.

Check how my video below for step by step

Ingredients

1 Container with Lid  (my container is 7.75 oz)

2/3 Epsom Salt

¼ Cup Olive Oil and 1/8 Cup of Olive Oil

3 Tablespoons Coconut Oil

2 Tablespoons Honey

4 drops Tea Tree Oil Optional

 Directions

  1.  Place 2 tbls of Coconut  in the container
  2. Add ¼ of Olive Oil
  3. Add 1 tbls of Honey
  4. Add 2 drops of Tea Tree Oil (optional)
  5. Add 2/3 cups of Epsom Salt
  6. Shake container to level off
  7. On top of the Epsom Salt add 1 tbls of Coconut Oil
  8. Add 1/8 Cup of Olive Oil
  9. Add 1 tbls of Honey
  10. Add 2 drops of Tea Tree Oil
  11. Pour more Epsom salt to top of container

Tree Oil

Tea tree oil has very high antiseptic, germicidal, antibacterial and anti fungal properties. It speeds healing and because it absorbs so easily into skin it continues to block bacterial growth preventing the reoccurrence of skin ailments.

Coconut Oil

The constituents in coconut oil are saturated fats such as capric acid, caprylic acid and lauric acid. It contains high amounts of vitamin E, antioxidants, proteins and triglycerides. Capric acid and lauric acid are both anti-microbial and anti-bacterial. The antioxidants combat the effects of aging by hindering the free radicals that contribute to the hardening of the connective tissues in the skin. The small molecular structure of coconut oil allows it to penetrate the skin easily while the proteins and vitamin E soothe and rejuvenate the skin. http://www.ehow.com

Honey

Honey can be used as part of a dry skin regimen because its composition is described as s humectant. A humectant is an item or substance that attracts moisture and keeps in locked inside. http://www.livestrong.com

DIY Head Band Rack

Do It Yourself Head Band Rack

Supplies Needed

Glue Gun

Glue Sticks

Scissors

Styrofoam Rounds (Dollar Tree)

New Paper Towel Roll

Soild Base (I’m using a picture frame from Dollar Tree)

Fabric or Wrapping Paper

Step 1

On the top side if the paper towels remove the plastic covering the whole. Tuck the plastic into the whole.

Step 2

Unwrap the styrofoam round.  Place glue on the bottom of the paper towel roll.  (Not the side with the whole).  Also place glue on the Styrofoam round.  Hold paper towel roll firmly on the styrofoam to ensure it will adhere.

Step 3

Lay out fabric or paper.   Place paper towels on fabric with enough fabric to cover the top.

Roll the towels in the fabric twice.  Mark your length and width.

Remove paper towel and cut the fabric.

Step 4

Take the edge the cut fabric and cover the top of the paper towel. (Top=side with Styrofoam) Hot Glue the fabric to the styrofoam and smooth it out.

Step 5

Roll the towels in the fabric.  Do not roll too tight because it will change the shape of the towels.  Roll snug

Glue down the edge of fabric.

Step 6

Tuck the excess fabric into the whole.

On the other side (Styrofoam side), glue excess fabric down.

Step 7  Glue the paper towel to the picture frame (or whatever you are using).  It really doesn’t matter which side you glue down.  Whatever side works best for you. Use a lot of glue and work fast.  Hold the towels down firmly on the frame.  Go around the towels to adhere anything that may be lifting.
