Borba Firming Micro-Diamond Body Polish Review

*** Bottle has been in my shower for 4 months

I purchased the Borba Body Polish about six months ago at my local TJ Maxx.  The store was closing and everything was marked down extremely low.  The scrub cost $3 so I said what the heck just buy it.  The regular price is $28.  If you don’t already know, I have psoriasis therefore I must be extremely careful with body scrubs.  I have used this scrub 2x a week for about 4 months in the shower.

What they say

This cult-favorite, skin-rejuvenating body polish was designed to stimulate microcirculation, improve cell turnover, refine skin’s texture and tone, and promote firmer-looking skin from head-to-toe. The revolutionary formula has firming Guanabana, skin-renewing Glycolic Acid and Soy, vitamins and botanicals, and is infused with prismatic Micro-Diamonds. Skin will be dramatically smoother and softer with a subtle, lit-from-within glow after just one use.

What I Say

I was accustom to using the Neutrogena Body Scrub or my DIY Scrub.  The Borba is rough compared to the other scrubs; therefore, initially I did not like it.  I thought it would be to rough for my skin.  It felt like little jagged pieces of rock scrubbing my skin. Because of the roughness I did not use exfoliating gloves or towels with the scrub.  I applied it to wet skin with my hands and rubbed in for approximately two minutes.

After my shower I could feel an immediate difference in my skin.  IMMEDIATE My skin was much softer.  My shoulders felt like whipped butter.  I did not notice any redness or irritation.  I really recommend this product.  I only thing I would change is the roughness.

DIY Under Eye Treatment -Wrinkles

DIY Under Eye Cream

I went on the world’s largest hunt for the best under eye treatment.  I wanted a treatment that would alleviate dark circle, fine lines, and crow’s feet.  I didn’t feel like I was asking for too much.  After trying several high end and low end brands over the past couple of years I decided to go the natural route.  I really do love La Mer; however, with my salary it just not feasible to spend that amount on under eye cream.  Maybe at bonus time-MAYBE…

I decided to make a DIY under eye cream.  Heck I DIY everything else – Just add it to my Sunday to do list.  There are so many recipes out there.  I decided to make a simple formula for day and a strong one for night.  Please remember your under area is very delicate.  Do not pull or tug-PAT gently with your ring finger or tool.  Also don’t forget to use your sunscreen.  Again your under eye area is very delicate.

DIY Epsom Salt Body Scrub

DIY Epsom Salt Body Scrub

Epsom Salt Body Scrub

There are many ways to make a body scrub.  Some use white sugar, brown sugar, sugar cane pieces, or sea salts.  I prefer Epsom salts.  At first it may seem a little rough on the skin but a lot of rubbing is not required.

I am a psoriasis suffering; therefore, I always must be careful about what’s in a scrub and the roughness.  For me white sugar was not rough enough and brown sugar left a film behind.  The film made me feel like I needed to shower again.

When applying my scrub I rub my skin gently in the shower.  I do not ever-under any circumstance-rub my skin like it’s a sander.  That is the #1 to incite a flare up. I use the scrub daily in the shower.

Check how my video below for step by step

2/3 Epsom Salt

¼ Cup Olive Oil and 1/8 Cup of Olive Oil

3 Tablespoons Coconut Oil

2 Tablespoons Honey

4 drops Tea Tree Oil Optional

 Directions

  1.  Place 2 tbls of Coconut  in the container
  2. Add ¼ of Olive Oil
  3. Add 1 tbls of Honey
  4. Add 2 drops of Tea Tree Oil (optional)
  5. Add 2/3 cups of Epsom Salt
  6. Shake container to level off
  7. On top of the Epsom Salt add 1 tbls of Coconut Oil
  8. Add 1/8 Cup of Olive Oil
  9. Add 1 tbls of Honey
  10. Add 2 drops of Tea Tree Oil
  11. Pour more Epsom salt to top of container

Tree Oil

Tea tree oil has very high antiseptic, germicidal, antibacterial and anti fungal properties. It speeds healing and because it absorbs so easily into skin it continues to block bacterial growth preventing the reoccurrence of skin ailments.

Coconut Oil

The constituents in coconut oil are saturated fats such as capric acid, caprylic acid and lauric acid. It contains high amounts of vitamin E, antioxidants, proteins and triglycerides. Capric acid and lauric acid are both anti-microbial and anti-bacterial. The antioxidants combat the effects of aging by hindering the free radicals that contribute to the hardening of the connective tissues in the skin. The small molecular structure of coconut oil allows it to penetrate the skin easily while the proteins and vitamin E soothe and rejuvenate the skin. http://www.ehow.com

Honey

Honey can be used as part of a dry skin regimen because its composition is described as s humectant. A humectant is an item or substance that attracts moisture and keeps in locked inside. http://www.livestrong.com

Aveeno Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser Review

What They Say

This instant foaming cleanser with moisture-rich Soy extracts and salicylic acid, a blemish-fighting ingredient, helps improve skin’s tone and texture and clears up blemishes without over drying, leaving skin soft, smooth and even-looking. This mild, hypoallergenic, oil-free formula won’t clog pores and is gentle enough for everyday use.

What I Say

“Go with what you know” sometimes the best way.

I decided to try a new face wash.   People love and rave about all of the Aveeno products.  I even rave about the lotions.   Most Aveeno products work as intended for me.  There is always one outlier.    The Aveeno Clear Complexion face wash.  The product did not work for me at all.

I understand that every product needs an introduction period but how long am I suppose to wait before it starts working.  I give every product 2-3 weeks to show me what it can do unless the product states to use it longer for results.  During the period my female time came which is the ultimate test of a blemish control product.

The face wash failed all the way around.  Every week I would get two new huge pimples on my face.  When those two would leave 2-3 more would pop up in different areas.  Heck no…. I already have psoriasis and now acne.  I just can’t take all of the skin problems.  The worst part each pimple would leave some hyperpigmentation behind.  3x HeckNO.com.org.me.us

After 1.5 months, I must return to DDF Blemish control face wash.  I have to bring out the big guns.

Length of time :1.5 months

Dryness: None

Oil Control: None

Stop Breakouts: No

Cons

Pros

Did not dry out my face

Side Note:  The face wash was the only thing I changed in my daily face routine.

Mac Glorify Extra Dimension Skin Finish

I am not a die-hard Mac lover.  Some of the products I like and others I don’t care for.  When Mac gets it right they really get it right in my book.

The new collection Mac in Extra Dimension is my new love.  I saw the original skinfinish’s on Temptalia’s website.  There are three skinfinishes in the collection: Suburb, Whispers of Gilt, and Glorify.  I fell in love with Glorify and Whispers of Gilt.  Since I am on a tight budget I could only choose one.  GLORIFY…..  MUST HAVE.

If you missed out or refused to purchase Estee Lauders Topaz Chameleon, this is the highlighter for you.  It is so soft and smooth. The consistency is amazing and will look great on any person of color.  If you can find it, give it a try at your local Mac counter.

Cost $29

Oily Skin Foundations

My face is an oil pit.  Like really….Why was cursed with crazy skin?  I found 3 really great foundations for oily skin.

Oily Skin Foundations

  1.  Make Up Forever HD-  Color 173

I love this foundation because it is lightweight and leaves a dewy finish.  It provides light to medium coverage but is buildable.  I rarely have to touch up the foundation through the day.  Sometimes I will use my Mac Natural Skin Finish to touch up at lunch. I use this foundation with the MUFE HD Primer in #6 Yellow. I also set the foundation with MUFE or NYC setting powder. Some reviews state this foundation is better for normal to combination skin; however, I have not experienced any problems.   Best if applied with Stippling brush or Beauty Blender.

2.  Estee Lauder Double Wear Light-  Intensity 5.0

This foundation is very lightweight and a little goes a long way.  This foundation is not for the heavy handed because it will look cakey in my opinion.  This is a great Summer/Spring option if you want something with a little more coverage than a tinted moisturizer.  The coverage is sheer to light.  Your skin should have minimal blemishes to use this foundation unless you conceal first.  The foundation will leave you with a very natural finish.  The most natural looking of the three.  Stays on the entire work day. With all foundations I prime and set with powder. Best if applied with your fingers

3.  Revlon Colorstay Combination/Oily Skin – Rich Ginger

My favorite drugstore foundations.  There are a gazillion reviews on this product.  This is a great option if you cannot afford or don’t want to spend a fortune on foundation.   Great medium coverage and stays on the entire work day.  What more can you ask for and only $8?
